Awesome plugin Jon!

I was wondering maybe if this could be a new feature or if you had a quick code fix.

Some kind of search functionality or the option for the directory to be listed in alphabetical order.

Thanks so much!
Curtis

I'd donate for that feature, if you accept donations :)

When I activate WP Users plugin, it causes a database error in SimpleForums that adds [Page 1 of 0] to the top of the forum pages (according to help forum at SimpleForums).

When I deactivate the plugin, error disappears.

Is there any way to correct for the error?

I had the same problem and worked on it for days only to find such a simple answer. Yes, it's in the CSS and here is what I came up with

.wpu-user {
float:left;
margin:10px;
}

.wpu-user img {
margin-right:auto;
margin-left:auto;
}

.wpu-id {
text-align:center;
}

You can see an example MaineCoaches

Hi everyone!

First of all, thanks for the plugin, really solving my issue I needed for my page.
The only thing I cannot figure out how to costumize my users page. What I need is the users not under each other but side by side for instance like a table or something. I am a real rookie in coding so please dont reply:'u can do it in css' - if you could help me out with a few lines of codes and where to insert it it would be much appretiated. ( sry for my poor English :) )

You can see my problem in live clicking here

Managed to work it out (but I'm just planning to use it for 10-20 blogs, so might be done more efficiently).

I'm a beginner, so was getting confused by get_users_of_site which was giving me all users for all blogs. I added an 'AND' clause to the SQL query to find users who have an entry for meta_key 'wp_[blog_id]_capabilities' in the usermeta table.

It seems ok, but would welcome any corrections or alternatives (that would be ok in both WP and WPMU).

function display_user_list() {
[...]

	// Get the authors from the database ordered by user nicename
global $wpdb;
	global $blog_id;
$roles = wpu_get_roles();

	$wpcaps = '\'wp_'.$blog_id.'_capabilities\'';
$query = "SELECT ID, user_nicename FROM $wpdb->users WHERE ID = ANY (SELECT user_id FROM $wpdb->usermeta WHERE meta_value IN ($roles) and meta_key = $wpcaps) ORDER BY user_nicename LIMIT $offset, $usersPerPage";
$author_ids = $wpdb->get_results($query);

    $output = '';

	// Loop through each author
foreach($author_ids as $author) {

		// Get user data
$curauth = get_userdata($author->ID);

		$output .= get_user_listing($curauth);
}

	echo $output;

	// how many rows we have in database
$user_count = $wpdb->get_var("SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM $wpdb->users WHERE ID = ANY (SELECT user_id FROM $wpdb->usermeta WHERE meta_value IN ($roles) and meta_key = $wpcaps)");

Hi,

I've got a normal WP blog, which I'd like to move to Wordpress MU. But I'm having trouble getting the 'Wordpress Users' plugin to display only the users for the blog being looked at. At the moment it shows all the users registered on all blogs, rather than just the one I am looking at. Unfortunately I can't quite work out how to filter out the other users. The two options I can see are;

1) adding another clause to the SQL query, to require 'meta_key = wp_[blog id]_user_level', or
2) adding an 'if' clause somewhere using the built in functions like 'is_user_member_of_blog'.

I think the second one would work for both WP and WPMU, so I'd rather try that approach. Has anyone tried doing this themselves?

Cheers

Thought I'd post a follow up here... I can't seem to get it to work, either.

Shouldn't the "noindex" show up in the source code? I'm not even seeing it there.

Maybe I'm getting the page ID wrong? I get it from rolling over the post title in the admin page and looking in the bottom window of the browser. It's usually a 2 or 3 digit number, right?

Thanks for your help! All I want to do is noindex a page here or there, one at a time.

Hi - On this issue, if I don't have descriptions in the directory, is it possible to make the directory page have columns? It seems like a huge waste of page to have one over another when it's just a tiny thumbnail image or gravatar.

Thanks -

Hello - I know there are several questions here about how to add custom fields form other programs - is there any news on how to do that? Is it possible to edit the template somehow?

Also, I'd really like to give people the ability to email or contact someone from the User Profile view - that's information that is in their Wordpress profile. How can I add those fields?

And, is there a way to set a default image (the site default maybe?) if someone doesn't put a picture up? The format goes haywire without that.

Thank you -
Alexa

p.s. (I agree with post in forum that there really should be an opt in/out on this. Good for future release - thanks!)

Hi there i have the same request but am not code savvy enough to understand your response. The default view is awful, see here http://transitionbedford.org/site-users/. Is this because of the theme?
Once i've edited the code will i need to manually add the code each time i have a new user?
many thanks

I am new to php and css. Can you tell me where I would go to insert this code?

I am using Wordpress 2.8.4 with the Atahualpa 3.4 theme. This theme has a little box for adding inserts into the CSS file. I tried adding it there and no dice.
Thanks

Hi, I love you plugin very much. Thanks for that.

I have a question on the no-follow option.
First, I tried to enter the page id but the page is still "follow".
Then I entered the slug, but it is still "follow".
Here is the code,

<meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow"/>

Could you advise the best practice to make it no-follow?

p.s. I ccould make it noindex so the page id should be correct.

Thanks.

Hey there. First off... loving the plugin! A definite cure for a headache. I'm using it to show only the roles above subscribers so it isn't a very long list.

Because of that, I decided to use the photo and description options in directory view to pad the page a little more. The problem now is that it looks a bit cluttered. Is there a quick/easy way to input text based separators between users. So it looks something like -

[user photo here]
user#1

Description for user #1

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

[user photo here]
user#2

Description for user #2

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Is that possible? Easy?
Thanks in advance!

This is to add a "noindex" meta tag to pages you don't want to show up in search engines, such as Google. You need to give Google time to drop the pages from its index. If you have anymore problems, let me know.

Hello,
I'm a bit new to WordPress, and think I may lack an understanding of how this is supposed to work. I deactivated all plugins except the Ultimate Noindex Nofollow Tool, enter the page id of a page I don't want the search to find, and it still pops up when a word in it is searched for. What am I missing? Thank you very much for any assistance,

Yes, I do have more than one, I need to give admin privileges for the event register plugin to display in the dashboard.

I just deleted the main admin account, I can log in as one of the other admin when I need too.

I've settled for the display_name as the sort type, will be fine for my use.

I've added fields, using register-plus, and added if isset so it only displays fields that hold content. Also added radio buttons (register plus again) for users to choose yes/no to display certain fields like address publicly.

Thanks for the useful plugin. You can see how I use it here, class reunion site.
http://mwhs1990.com/classmates
The site won't launch until this weekend so there are only 2 users.

The user profile page has plenty of hooks to add your own CSS to style the profile page. I don't think there is a way to add a custom template to the user profile page.

If you want to change the url, you should play around with the htaccess file and url rewrites.

Is there a way to specify a page template for the user profile page?

I'm putting something together for a class reunion site mwhs1990.com / mwhs1990.com/classmates
This is ideally what I wanted but can't seem to find any simple free/cheap solution.

I have a list of people (graduating class) They see there name in the list, click it to create a profile (which also gives admin their info for contact) Then displays their public profile.

This is what I have been able to piece together.

Your plugin along with Register Plus ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/register-plus/ ) and User Photo allows users to register. I've put in extra fields, including checkbox's for display public for phone, email and address. The register plus supports auto fill for registration, so i can provide a link from a name that auto fills username (First Last) If they don't change it, this works. I've changed yours to sort by display name. This works because I can moderate the display name of registers. The drawback is display name sorts by first letter, which would be the first name. I can live with this but not ideal.

If you have a solution I would love to hear it. If I can hire you to get a workable solution email me -leonard.at.geekspecialties.com.

Thanks for your input,
Len

There is a plugin called Profiler that gives to the option to sort by Display name. The problem with the display name is that the user can set it to whatever they want. It can be their full name or in most cases, their username. So its totally different than sorting by name.

Also, another reason not to sort by last name, is that First and Last name are not required during registration. Not all users have entered first and last names. So unless you can force all users to enter that, it wouldn't be very useful anyway.

I will not be adding this ability unless WordPress makes it easier to search by name.
